Sidney Beck
Sidney Beck (September 2, 1906 – April 7, 2001)〔(WU Libraries Necrology ). Gives MLA Notes, v. 58 no. 1, September 2001 as reference.〕 was an American〔 lutenist and musicologist who was among those principally responsible for reviving the English broken consort. He made the a number of modern editions of this music and had a professional consort in New York State.
Beck was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, and died in New York.〔
Some of the music in Thomas Morley's ''Consort Lessons'' is incomplete so there was some considerable reconstruction / recomposition to be done.
